Unboxing Live 190: Samsung Galaxy S7

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cell Phones, Features, Videocasts

Starting last year with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung came out swinging in the industrial design department. Gone were the super plasticky smartphones that felt cheap in the hand, and in its place we got metal and glass smartphones that were a sight to behold. Now, the company has launched the follow-ups, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

You can get the Samsung Galaxy S7 now.

Unboxing Live 091: iPad 3rd Generation

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, Handhelds, Videocasts

We open up the brand new iPad (3rd generation) in this episode. The new iPad (or iPad 3, as some call it) from Apple features an amazing Retina display, A5X processor with quad-core graphics, and optional 4G LTE from Verizon or AT&T. It's a nice upgrade from the previous iPad 2, and is the best tablet for the money that you can get today. In fact, you can get one right now from Apple. All you'll find in the box is the iPad tablet itself, along with a sync cable and AC adapter for charging, and that's really it. Not much to this one, but not to worry, we'll have plenty more iPad (3rd Generation) videos for you soon, including some LTE speed tests.

Big thank you to GoToMeeting for sponsoring the show - be sure to check them out! GoToMeeting with HDFaces provides rich, super-simple collaborative virtual meetings.

Motorola Droid RAZR unboxing gallery

Motorola has ressurrected the RAZR from the dead, slapped the Droid branding on it, and has come up with a 7.1mm thin powerhouse. Appropriately called the Droid RAZR, the smartphone has a Gorilla Glass covered 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display and a body made of Kevlar, making it lightweight, water-resistant, and durable. On the inside you've got a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP4430 chip, 8 megapixel camera that records 1080p video, 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB flash storage onboard (and another 16 GB on the included microSD card.) It runs on Verizon's 4G LTE network. so you know, it's fast. We'll be getting a review up soon, but in the meantime, be sure to peep our Droid RAZR unboxing gallery first!

After publishing our iPhone 4S review, we got a bunch of you asking what happened to our unboxing photo gallery. We wanted to make sure we had both the white and black models in-hand prior to the photo shoot. We've now published our iPhone 4S unboxing gallery (better late than never!), and we should have the video up shortly as well!

Unboxing Live 072: Verizon 4G LTE MiFi Mobile Hotspot

We open up the Verizon 4G LTE MiFi hotspot in this episode of Unboxing Live. The MiFI is a portable Wi-Fi hotspot that connects to Verizon's vast 4G LTE network at speeds that meet, or in some cases, exceed, the typical home broadband speeds that we are all used to. You can connect up to five devices to the network that the MiFi creates, allowing you fast Internet access on the go, anywhere within Verizon's 4G footprint. Leave a 4G area, and the MiFi will drop down to 3G speeds, which is a nice backup, and not something that all current 4G hotspots offer. It also has a low power e-ink display to show the status of the connection and battery life, something Samsung's SCH-LC11 4G hotspot surprisingly left out.

Big thanks to our sponsor - GoToMeeting makes it easy to collaborate with anyone, anywhere - and they have just released their new HD faces feature that lets you see the webcams of up to 6 users as a time, which means you're collaborating face-to-face. HTC Trophy Windows Phone unboxing gallery

Verizon Wireless customers who've been waiting for a Windows Phone 7 device to show up on their network, you can now take solace that the HTC Trophy has arrived. The Trophy is the first Windows Phone 7 device to be released on Verizon, and it sports a 3.8-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen. It's also got a 5 megapixel camera that records in 720p HD with autofocus and an LED flash, and 16 GB of internal memory. We've got one in and are tearing into it, and before we hit you with our HTC Trophy review, we thought we'd give you an HTC Trophy unboxing gallery to tide you over.

Unboxing Live 069: Motorola Droid X2 smartphone

We open up the Motorola Droid X2 in this episode of Unboxing Live, giving you a look a the first dual-core Android device available on Verizon Wireless. This is the follow-up to the original Droid X, and maintains the same form factor and physical buttons, as well as the huge display. This one is actually a qHD display, providing a higher resolution than the original Droid X that launched almost a year ago. One thing missing here, the Droid X2 doesn't have 4G LTE built-in, but that's a minor complaint for this otherwise speedy device.

As always, hit us with any questions you have about the Droid X2 and we'll do our best to answer them in our follow-up review! In the meantime, feel free to check out our Motorola Droid X2 gallery.
