Wii U unboxing

Nintendo's next big home console, the Wii U, is set to launch here in the US in a week-and-a-half on November 18. That's typically when we'd expect to see unboxing videos start appearing online, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata took advantage of his position, getting the jump on everyone with a nice head start. We've got the video below, after the break, of Iwata unboxing the Wii U Deluxe Edition console, showing off the system hardware, GamePad, and all the packed-in accessories. Check it out, and let us know in the comments if you plan on picking up a Wii U for yourself!

Unboxing Live 070: OnLive Game System

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Video Games, Videocasts

In this episode we open up the OnLive Game System. If you are unfamiliar, OnLive offers streaming gaming, similar to the way Netflix offers streaming movies. You fire up the OnLive service on your PC, Mac, or on the Microconsole (featured in this video), choose a game you want to play, and it works on demand. The library of titles availabie is absolutely huge, and you can pretty much play them all for one fee. We give you a look at the OnLive Microconsole, as well as their wireless controller in this episode of Unboxing Live with Andru Edwards.

Unboxing Live 067: Astro Mixamp 5.8 and A30 headphones

In this episode we give you a look at the Astro Mixamp 5.8, the company's new accessory that allows up to four users to enjoy wireless 7.1 surround sound from their gaming console or PC. The cool thing about the Mixamp is that since it uses 5.8 GHz technology (rather than the overcrowded 2.4 GHz space,) you get nice, clear sound. This means that even late at night, you can mute your surround sound system and just have all the sound sent to the headphones - and it'll even do both game sounds as well as chat. Nice stuff!

Unboxing Live 066: Kinect for Xbox 360

Microsoft has been hyping Kinect for Xbox 360 for about a year and a half now, and it's finally arrived. Our Kinect review is just about ready, but in the meantime, enjoy the unboxing video. We give you a look at the Kinect sensor, the pack-in title, and the differences between setting up Kinect with an original Xbbox 360, versus one of the new Xbox 3360 S models.

Big thanks to our sponsors - be sure and grab a free $5 credit from JackThreads now, and check out GoToMeeting, which makes online meetings super simple and collaborating remotely a breeze.

Kinect sensor unboxing gallery

We got our hands on the Kinect sensor for Xbox 360 a day before launch, and we've been putting the motion gaming peripheral through its paces for the past five days now in preparation for our Kinect review. It'll be up later today, but in the meantime, we figured we'd share some unboxing shots of the Kinect unit. It's deceptively larger than it appears to be in product shots--it's a substantial piece of technology. It matches up perfectly with the redesigned Xbox 360 S model that was introduced back at E3 as well. Get a look at all the shots in our Kinect unboxing gallery.

Unboxing Live 053: DJ Hero Renegade edition

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Video Games, Videocasts

In this episode we open up the DJ Hero Renegade edition set. DJ Hero is the new turntable-based rhythm game featuring hip-hop, electronic, and rock music, and the Renegade Edition has a bunch of premium touches, and is also available just for a limited time. We show it all in this edition of Unboxing Live.

By the way, if you like music and haven’t played DJ Hero, you owe it to yourself to check it out. In our opinion, this is better than any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game that has come before it, in the way that you interact with the music, and the totally unique pairings that they throw at you. We are definitely DJ Hero believers! You can pick up DJ Hero on Amazon.

Nintendo DSi unboxing gallery

We know you guys have been waiting for it, so here we are with our unboxing gallery. In case you haven’t heard, the Nintendo DSi is the company’s follow-up to the standard Nintendo DS. It does away with the GameBoy cartridge slot, so it is thinner, and it also features two camera on the device, one facing the player and one facing away from the player, on the outside of the unit. The cameras open up new gaming possibilities, as does the much expanded storage. The DSi features the DSi Shop, which connects to the Internet in a similar fashion to the Wii Shop, and allows you to download games in exchange for Points. The screens are also of a higher quality, which is always nice on a gaming device. Be sure to hit up our full Nintendo DSi unboxing gallery for all the shots.

Unboxing Live 041: Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PS3 bundle

Metal Gear Solid 4 was, arguably, the biggest release in the ‘s life cycle thus far. To commemorate the release, Konami worked with Sony on a special Limited Edition version of the Playstation 3 console. We were lucky enough to get our hands on one of the very, very rare Metal Gear Solid 4 Gun Metal Limited Edition PS3 units, and we have it here for your unboxing pleasure. As you will see, both the PS3 console and the included DualShock 3 controller are given the gunmetal treatment. We also have a bunch of special items packed in, which we go over as well.

All in all, we think this is a fantastic collectable for fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, the Playstation 3, or both. Unfortunately, we aren’t seeing them on sale anymore, so you may have to hit your favorite auction site if you want to grab one of these.
